Which image format should you choose?

JPG is a widely supported choice for photographs. PNG is useful when lossless output or transparency matters. WebP is often useful for modern websites when you want efficient image delivery.

What happens during conversion?

The browser reads the selected image, draws it to a canvas and creates a new file in your chosen format. The original file is not replaced. Conversion can change file size and, depending on the format, image characteristics such as transparency handling.

Conversion does not always mean smaller

A different format is not automatically more compact. Results depend on the source image, dimensions and encoder. Compare the generated file with the original before choosing it for your final use.

Good uses for an image converter

  • Preparing images for a website that accepts a specific format.
  • Creating a JPG copy from a source that does not need transparency.
  • Creating a WebP copy for a modern web workflow.
  • Creating a PNG copy when lossless encoding or transparency is important.

Need a smaller file too?

After conversion, use the Pixmora compressor if you also need to reduce file size.
