Many forms and upload services set a maximum file size. Pixmora's target-size compressor lets you enter the limit instead of guessing at a quality slider. You can use the preset sizes or enter a custom KB or MB target.

Popular image compression targets

20KB: useful for very small uploads. 50KB: common for strict forms. 100KB: a frequent image upload limit. 200KB: a balance between size and image detail. 500KB: useful when a larger upload limit is allowed.

How to compress an image to 100KB

  1. Open the target-size compressor.
  2. Select a JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP image.
  3. Choose 100KB or enter 100 in the target field.
  4. Run compression and check the generated file size and quality.
  5. Download the result if it meets the destination's requirements.

How Pixmora reaches the target

For formats with adjustable lossy quality, Pixmora tries different quality levels and compares the generated byte size with the requested target. If quality alone cannot get close enough, the tool can reduce dimensions and try again.

PNG and exact file sizes

PNG is lossless, so its compression controls work differently from JPEG and WebP. When a very small target requires stronger control, Pixmora may use another output format. Always check whether the destination requires PNG, JPG or another format.

Target size versus image dimensions

File size and pixel dimensions are different. If a photo is extremely large, reducing its width can make it much easier to meet a strict KB limit while preserving a sensible viewing size.
